It is the true symbol of Delhi and a very old heritage site. Red Fort was the residence of Mughal emperors for a long time. It is in the center of Delhi with lot of museums inside. It was built in 1648 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It was named as Red Fort because of the red sandstone that was used to construct its walls. It is a true representation of Mughal art and creativity. Every year on the Indian Independence Day, 15th August, Prime Minister of India, hosts the Indian flag on Red Fort and addresses the nation which makes this place a symbol of National pride.
Qutab Minar

Qutab Minar holds the title of World’s tallest brick Minaret and the second largest Minar in India. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is made of marble and red sandstone. Qutab Minar is surrounded by other heritage sites like iron pillar, Alai Darwaza, Alai Minar, Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque,Ala-ud-din's Madrasa and Tomb, the Tomb of Iltutmish and the Tomb of Imam Zamin. The minar is made from bricks some of which are covered with delicate carvings in iron and verses from the Holy Quran. The iron pillar is a metallurgical wonder since it shows no sign of rust even after so many years. A must visit for those who wish to be enchanted by the charisma of this historical marvel!
Humayun Tomb

Humayun’s Tomb was built by Hamida Banu Begum in the 15th century. It is a red sand stone building with a very beautiful Persian structure surrounded by gardens. The first garden tomb in India, it was made before the Taj Mahal and was an inspiration for that. This place also has the graves of other Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s son Dara shikoh, Hamida Banu herself and many others.
India Gate

A symbol of true Patriotism, India Gate makes every Indian feel proud of his freedom and heritage after visiting this place. Situated at Rajpath, it offers tribute to all the soldiers who sacrificed their life for the country. It is a 42 meters high arched structure made of Bharatpur stone. Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial was made in 1971 in the remembrance of all soldiers who sacrificed their life in the India-Pak war. This flame burns night and day. Rajpath itself is a beautiful place surrounded by lush gardens. A walk to Rajpath rejuvenates the soul and gives a great feeling of being in the lap of nature.

Though there are many malls and shopping complexes in Delhi but Connaught Place has its own charm. It is quite different from malls or other shopping hubs. It is an open market with a royal monumental looks that make it very beautiful and transport one to another era. There are two circles- inner and outer with many branded and local shops. There are lot of famous restaurants and cinemas in this area. It is a great place to visit in the evening to enjoy the Georgian architecture, a casual stroll, window shopping and the smiles of the warm, young Delhi crowd!
