Gangtok(Sikkim)

Sikkim, the land of, beauty and adventure, is a picturesque place with beautiful mountains, plunging rivers and best woodlands. It is a perfect place for mountaineering, trekking, strolling and water rafting. Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim is situated 5500 feet above the sea level on the eastern Himalayan range. The view of Khangchendzonga, the third highest peak of the world, from Gangtok is most amazing.

Climate-Winters are extremely cold requiring heavy woollen clothing, between Decembers to February the temperature reaches an average low of about 4°C.

In the summer season, from April to June the temperature is at an average maximum of 22°C. Summers are mild requiring cotton or light woollen clothes.

Khecheopalri Lake

Location: The Lake is 34 km from Pelling town and 147 Kms. from Khecheopalri village.

Best month to visit:December – February

It is a great tourist sightseeing point and a perfect place to visit during winter season with your family. Khecheopalri Lake is known to be a holy lake that fulfils the wishes of people. This lake is considered to be an impression of Lord Shiva`s foot. You can enjoy its beauty and calming peace.

Khangchendzonga National Park

Location: Khangchendzonga Park is 145 km from Gangtok, in West Sikkim.

Visiting Time:Open all 7 days of the week.

Best time to visit: April to May

Public Transport: Take a cab from Pelling.

Best Attraction:- Wild life Animals, Snow Leopard, Musk deer,Black panther, Red Panda, Great Tibetan Sheep

The Khangchendzonga National Park is the cold deserts of Lhonak Valley. The Western part of the Park keeps running along the worldwide limit with Nepal and China. Here multiple unique species of fauna and flora with about 550 species of native and migratory birds. It has a good representation of Himalaya species.

Tendong Hills

Location: Tendong Hills is 13 Km from Ravangla, Namchi.

Visiting Time: Open all 7 days of the week.

Located at 8530 feet with beautiful sights and serene environment, Tendong hill offers views of the dense forest and captivating mountains. Here you can see the sun rise from the mountain range of Khanchendzonga. Also, there is a lovely Tea-Garden situated in Temi in a valley. The Shankar point situated 8 kms from Ravangla offers a magnetic experience of the sunrise.

Tsomgo Lake

Location: Tsomgo Lake is 40 kilometres from the Gangtok.

Visiting Time: Open all 7 days of the week.

Best time to visit:December – February

The original meaning of the word Tsomgo is “Source of water”. This lake is alluring and most attractive for nature lovers. Located on the way to Nathula, you can go for yak rides near the lake for a unique experience. In winter season, the view of lake is even more majestic because the reflection of the snow can be seen in the beautiful lake.

Yumthang Valley and Monasteries

Location: It’s about 140km from North of Gangtok.

Visiting Time: Mid February to end of June

Best time to visit: Open all 7 days of the week

The Yumthang valley known for its rich variety of flora and fauna is also called the valley of flowers. Unique flowers covering the whole valley splash it with colours making it a great tourist attraction. Scenic mountains, waterfalls and streams make it a nature lover’s paradise. During the winter months, you can enjoy adventure sports here. It is the base camp for the trek to rhododendron heaven that begins from the Yumthang valley and finishes at Lachen valley. You can also visit the monasteries located near the place to absorb their calmness and peace.
