Dilwara Jain Temple
Location: 2.6 kms from Mount Abu
Timings: Open all days of the week from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Dilwara Temple is one of the most exotic Jain temples. It was constructed by Vastupal Tejpal, between 11th and 13th centuries. This complex contains five Jain temples that are Parshvanath , Vimal Vasahi , Luna Vasahi , Pithalhar and Mahavir Swami. All these temples are famous for their astonishing marble architecture and the amazing interior. Here, you can will relish the superb marble carvings, excellent carved ceilings, enticing pillars and marvelous panels that represent the Hindu and Jain mythology. The flawless artwork of the temple makes it the major tourist attraction of Mount Abu.

Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the Aravalli hills. In 1960, it was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary, which spreads in 288 sq. kms area. It is rich in a wide variety of flora and fauna. Sambhar, panthers, foxes, wild boar, bear, jungle cat and many other rare animals can be spotted here. No doubt, it is a fantastic place for animal lovers. Lots of birds’ species are also found here. You will be intrigued to see around 250 species of birds in this sanctuary, in which grey jungle fowl can also be seen. The pleasant and moderate climate of this sanctuary has its own beauty and charm.

Nakki Lake is known as the ‘Love Lake of Mount Abu’. At the same time, it is the largest manmade lake in India, with the height of 1,100 meters. It is located at the splendid Aravali Range. As a great picnic spot, it is also famous for boating. As per Hindu mythology, it was carved out by Gods simply using their nail. That is why it is named as ‘Nakki’. According to an old tradition, on a festival in Shukla Paksha, many people consecrate their nails in the lake. There are many beautiful fountains which make the environment more pleasant. Nakki Lake is popular for another reason, as the ashes of famous Mahatma Gandhi were submerged in the lake water.

Toad Rock is famous in Mount Abu for trekking and rock climbing. It is also known as the ‘Mascot of Mount Abu’. This rock is in the form of a toad. So, people call this place by the name of ‘Toad Rock’. It is located in the beautiful Aravali Mountains. This rock overlooks the famous Nakki Lake and it is said that it looks like it is keeping an eye on the Lake. This masterpiece is a beautiful and memorable picnic spot. Guru Shikhar is the highest peak of Aravali mountains, which is located at the height of 1,722 meters. It is a good place for nature lovers, photo fanatics and experience seekers. There is a divine temple of Guru Dattatreya here. As per Hindu mythology, he is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and his footprints can be seen enshrined on a stone here. You can see here the footprints of Swami Ramnathji also. You should also visit the exotic temple of Dattatreya’s mother, which is nearby.
